Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club issues council endorsements

The Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club has announced its endorsements for the City Council elections April 13.

The club voted Wednesday to endorse three incumbents - Councilman Robert Garcia in the 1st District, Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske in the 5th District and Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga in the 7th District - and newcomers Thomas Marchese for the 3rd District and Brad Shore in the 9th District.

The Lambda Democratic Club's mission is to further the human and civil rights of all minorities, especially those of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

Ninth District City Council candidate Brad Shore released a statement today calling for maintaining 2008 police staffing levels and giving support to an internal search to replace former Police Chief Anthony Batts.
